I received a text and the puppy is ready for pickup. So looking forward to meeting this little guy and taking him home. I spoke with the breeder and Bruiser has had all shots and passed his physical. He is ready to move over the mountain from Loveland Colorado to Rifle Colorado.
Kathy and I will meet on May 8th, and go over the particulars of raising a show dog. She is helping me learn how the handle a show dog. We already covered structure of the dog in question, although it is difficult to feel the angles of the bones. I am sure it comes with time. The book “DogSteps” helped me to understand the basics.
We will go over the proper socialization of the puppy to be comfortable around people and other dogs, as this is very important for show dogs.
I am sure we will be going over the contract and expectations. I am looking forward to learning more about what Kathy does for grooming, and training.
After my dog was stolen three years ago, I have been waiting, patiently, to find a new dog to fill that special spot. I was looking for the right dog. And that is what drove me to visit the Denver Dog Show. My first visit was two years ago, and I met some breeders, but I still wasn’t sure what I was going to do and funding the project was a problem at the time. So I saved money and visited the Denver Dog Show again in 2015 and met Kathy Lister with Kilshire. I will talk about that meeting more in the next post.
